Alec Sawyer joined Carolina Small Business Development Fund in 2022 to serve as marketing & communications associate.
Prior to joining CSBDF, he worked as a sports journalist covering N.C. State Athletics and the Carolina Hurricanes for 247 Sports, SB Nation, Saturday Road, and others. He served as the managing editor for Canes Country, where he ensured consistent online content, managed a small staff, and oversaw social media channels. He worked as a beat reporter and podcast host for Pack Pride, where he covered N.C. State football, basketball, and baseball on a day-to-day basis and hosted the Sawyer & Ciencin Podcast.
Alec earned his B.A. in Communication Studies, Media from North Carolina State University, with minors in Journalism and Film Studies. While at N.C. State, he served on the editorial board of the student newspaper, Technician.
